Extended operating term for Junee Correctional Centre
Allens has advised The GEO Group on implementation arrangements for the extension of Junee Correctional Centre’s operating agreement.

Firm: Allens (The GEO Group Australia)
Value: Undisclosed
Area: Infrastructure, Government
Key players: Allens’ partner David Donnelly and associate Ben van Weel provided advice on the matter.
Deal significance: The implementation arrangements follow the state’s exercising of an option to extend The GEO Group’s operating agreement for the Junee Correctional Centre in NSW.
The GEO Group Australia is a provider of outsourced correctional services.
According to Allens, the deal will see The GEO Group Australia “expand its scope to provide services to upgraded and additional assets currently under procurement at the Centre, including new maximum security and administration buildings.”
Lead partner on the deal David Donnelly said it had been “great to support The GEO Group Australia on this project”.
The centre is undergoing a 489-bed expansion, which will bring its total capacity to 1279 beds during 2019, he noted.
“We are seeing an increase in sole-source procurements,” Mr Donnelly explained, “which provide a good opportunity to do more with less, as parties have the ability to tailor procurement models and contractual structures to ensure projects deliver value for money outcomes.”
