Lawyers rank what their firms should be doing better
The 2018 Legal Firm of Choice Report has revealed what areas law firms could improve on in order to properly retain their staff.

Momentum Intelligence, in partnership with Lawyers Weekly, has produced the fourth annual Legal Firm of Choice Report, providing an insight into the recruitment market and determining what internal and external factors make lawyers want to switch firms.
On a nationwide basis, just over 40 per cent of respondents believe that their firm should improve its remuneration offering, both in terms of pay and other rewards. Meanwhile 36.5 per cent want their firm to improve the resources provided to staff, particularly in the areas of IT/technology, marketing/advertising and administration support.
A further 23.6 per cent would like their firm to improve its communication.
A greater focus on flexible work hours was identified as the fourth area for improvement, according to the report, with 22.1 per cent of respondents saying their firm could do better here. Meanwhile 20.4 per cent said their firm could improve on career progression/ promotion opportunities and 20.3 per cent said they want more mentoring from within their firm.
Quality of management leadership was also highlighted as an area respondents want their firms to improve on, with almost 20 per cent selecting this option.
