Clearskin Clinics bought out for $127.4m

Baker McKenzie has advised Australian Pharmaceutical Industries on its purchase of cosmetic skin and laser hair removal business Clearskin Clinics.

Firm: Baker McKenzie (Australian Pharmaceutical Industries Limited) (API); Allens (Clearskin Clinics). 

Deal: API has been advised by Bakers on its acquisition of the Clearskin Clinics and products business from founder, Dr Philippa McCaffery, business partner Alarna Longes and multiple minority vendors.

Value: $127.4 million.

Area: Corporate markets.

Key players: The Bakers team was led by partner Arthur Apos, who was supported by Chris Taylor, Sam Mossman, Toby Patten, Sabrina Chan, Emilie Fary, Chuong Nguyen, Ellen Adianto and Sinan Alnajjar.

Deal significance: Speaking about the deal, Mr Apos said: “The acquisition represents a growth and diversification opportunity for API and complements their existing customer footprint and retail expertise”.

“The acquisition structure facilitates the continued involvement of the founders to assist API with the integration and continued growth and development of the business,” he said.
