Aussie lawyer elected to lead global tax network
The partner of a national law firm has been voted as one of three vice-presidents to lead the International Fiscal Association.

Clayton Utz taxation partner Niv Tadmore (pictured) has been named vice-president for the International Fiscal Association. He is one of three people to jointly hold the IFA vice-presidency.
Mr Tadmore, who has served as IFA Australia branch secretary since 2014, is the first Australian to hold such a senior position in the group.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Tadmore said the IFA was highly respected by regulators, policy-makers, the judiciary and multinationals around the world.
“This appointment accords with Australia's strong contribution to the development of international tax policy,” he said.
“The issues that we are dealing with here on a day-to-day basis are at the cutting-edge of international taxation and have major implications, not only because of the legal issues involved but also because the amounts concerned can be very large — so large that they can at times be subject to a dispute between governments, rather than the ATO and a multinational.”
IFA Australia Branch Chair, Professor Richard Vann, said that Mr Tadmore had been instrumental in lifting the branch's profile nationally and internationally.
During Mr Tadmore’s tenure as IFA Australia branch secretary, he extended an invitation to the Commission of Taxation to appoint a permanent member to the Australian IFA committee. This was done with the goal of “reinforcing inclusion, collaboration, trust and transparency between Australia's tax profession and the ATO,” a statement from Clayton Utz said.
Next year, Melbourne will play host to the 2019 IFA Asia-Pacific Regional Conference. The event will be held in co-operation with the Corporate Tax Association, which represents the key ASX and multinational taxpayers in Australia.
