A global law firm has advised an NYSE-listed company on its acquisition of Perth-headquartered Lynxrail.

Firm: K&L Gates (Wabtec Corporation)

Deal: Westinghouse Air & Brake Technology Group (Wabtec) has been advised on its acquisition of Lynxrail.

Key players: The legal team who advised Wabtec was led by K&L Gates Melbourne M&A partner John Mann, and included Perth corporate partner Adam Levine, senior associate Danielle Larkin and graduate Xanthe Shaw.

Deal significance: NYSE-listed Westinghouse Air & Brake Technology Group (Wabtec) is a global provider of products and services for rail and industrial markets, while Lynxrail is the railroad technology division of Lynx Engineering Consultants Pty Ltd.

Lynx Engineering was established in Perth in 1993. Since then it has developed a range of innovative technologies for the rail industry, including wayside and onboard-condition-based monitoring systems, according to a statement from K&L Gates.

“The strategic acquisition delivers Wabtec a company at the forefront of innovation in the rail industry,” said lead partner John Mann, commenting on the significance of the transaction.

“K&L Gates is pleased to have brought together a national team to assist Wabtec achieve a successful result.”
