Firms: Kain Lawyers (Cool or Cosy Group); HWL Ebsworth (Tindo Solar business)

Deal: The Cool or Cosy Group has acquired the Tindo Solar business

Value: Undisclosed

Area: M&A

Key players: The legal team advising the Cool or Cosy Group was led by Kain Lawyers director James Burchnall (pictured), with assistance from associate director Brian Vuong.

Deal significance: According to a statement from Kain Lawyers, Tindo Solar is the only Australian manufacturer of solar panels, with its manufacturing facilities based in Mawson Lakes, South Australia.

Tindo Solar also provides battery storage solutions, which are becoming increasingly relevant in the context of South Australia’s energy security plans, the firm said.

The acquisition of Tindo Solar by the Cool or Cosy Group allows the company to cement its status as one of the largest solar panel installers in South Australia.

Owner and managing director of the Cool or Cosy Group, Glenn Morelli, said the deal is an important investment that will allow the Cool or Cosy Group to locally manufacture and install high-quality, Australian-made solar panels.

“This is a win for South Australian manufacturing,” he said.

“We have been delighted with the way in which Kain Lawyers advised us on this strategic investment. Throughout the whole process, Kain Lawyers provided commercial, pragmatic and highly responsive advice that ensured we achieved our commercial objectives.”

Meanwhile, Kain Lawyers director James Burchnall said the transaction represented a great outcome for the Cool or Cosy Group and for the manufacturing and the renewable energy industry in South Australia.
