Firms: Piper Alderman (Plexsys); HopgoodGanim Lawyers (ImmersaView)

Deal: Plexsys has been advised on its acquisition of ImmersaView.

Value: Confidential

Area: M&A

Key players: The legal team advising Plexsys was led by Piper Alderman partner Peter Dwyer (pictured), with assistance from special counsel Jonathan Whybird and senior associate Kara Pennisi.

Deal significance: Plexsys is a US-headquartered company that focuses on live virtual constructive (LVC) environment generation, datalink and communication technologies.

ImmersaView is an Australian company focused on advanced display and video/audio data after action review (VADAAR) software technologies.

This transaction will enable the companies to combine their technologies to enhance LVC training for industries such as defence, mining and academia.

“ImmersaView has operations in Australia, the US and the UK,” Piper Alderman partner Peter Dwyer said.

“The deal required working with Plexsys US counsel on cross-border matters, as well as considering complex commercial and intellectual property issues.

“The transaction enhances Plexsys’ reputation as the market leader in LVC technology for defence and expands into commercial markets of emergency response, mining, academia and other industries.”
