Firms: Clayton Utz (Politix); Gilbert + Tobin (Country Road Group)

Deal: Politix has been purchased by the Country Road Group.

Value: Undisclosed

Area: M&A

Key players: The legal team advising Politix was led by corporate partner Michael Linehan (pictured), with assistance from senior associate Quentin Reidy and lawyer Kate Allison.

Deal significance: Politix is an Australian men’s fashion brand, specialising in tailored suits and footwear.

It has a number of standalone shopfronts in Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland and NSW, as well as being part of the merchandise found in large Australian department stores such as Myer.

The Country Road Group is a large Australian speciality fashion retailer. It is the parent company of Country Road, Trenery, Witchery and Mimco.

This latest transaction will see Politix also fall under the Country Road Group’s list of brands.

“This deal adds to the team's strong track record of advising clients in the retail industry on various high-profile corporate transactions,” Clayton Utz corporate partner Michael Linehan said.
