Forrestfield-Airport link on track
Two global firms have been involved in getting the $1.176 billion Forrestfield-Airport link project underway.

Firms: Allens (Public Transport Authority of Western Australia); King & Wood Mallesons (Perth Airport)
Value: $1.176 billion
Area: Rail
Key players: The Allens team was led by partner Nicholas Ng (pictured) with assistance from partner Victoria Holthouse, senior associate Matt Thomas and associates Tim Leschke, Michelle Hofmann and Danielle Thompson.
Deal significance: The Forrestfield-Airport link is the largest expansion of Perth's rail system since the Mandurah rail line and will provide direct access to and beyond Perth Airport.
The project involves some eight kilometres of tunnels and three new rail stations. Trains are expected to operate on the new line by 2020.
Salini Impregilo and NRW Pty Ltd will deliver the project under a design, construction and 10-year maintenance contract.
"The Forrestfield-Airport Link project involved an inter-disciplinary team with seamless collaboration between the State Solicitor's Office and the PTA," Allens lead partner Nicholas Ng said.
"We also worked with Perth Airport to develop a framework that appropriately managed risk throughout the construction phase and 100-year-plus life of the project."
