Macquarie makes $400m hybrid offer

Two firms have advised on an offer of capital notes by Macquarie Group Limited.

Firms: Norton Rose Fulbright (Australian Executor Trustees); King & Wood Mallesons (Macquarie Group Limited)

Deal: Australian Executor Trustees acted as a trustee for an offer of capital notes by Macquarie Group Limited (Macquarie Capital Notes 2 – MCN2).

Value: $400 million

Area: Banking and Finance

 
 

Key players: Norton Rose Fulbright’s legal team included partner Tessa Hoser, special counsel James Morris (pictured) and associate Livia Li. 

The KWM team comprised partners Ian Paterson and Evie Bruce, supported by senior associates Henrik Moritz and John Eagleton along with solicitors, Lauren Beasley and Matthew Kaminsky.

Deal significance:

The deal is the second capital raising for Macquarie in the past two months.

Australian Executor Trustees is a provider of note trustee services. According to Mr Morris, the MCN2 forms an important part of Macquarie's strategy to manage its capital mix and maintain a diverse source of funding.

“The transaction also highlights Australian Executor Trustee's position in the Australian market as a leading provider of note trustee services for regulated issues and our capability in acting on a range of significant debt capital markets transactions,” he said.
