Uluru resort solar project heats up
Multiple firms have advised on a solar project for the Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara, Northern Territory.

Deal significance: Clean Energy Finance Corporation has worked with renewable energy company Epuron on a project that will integrate 1.8MW of solar photovoltaics (PV) into the existing power system at the Ayers Rock Resort near Uluru in the NT.
Epuron’s subsidiary, Yulara Solar, selected CPS National as its engineer, procure and construct contractor. The roof and ground-mounted off-grid solar PV will directly replace diesel and gas-generated power.
Once installed, Epuron will provide solar energy to the Ayers Rock Resort under a long-term agreement with the resort’s owners, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, which is wholly owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation, a corporate Commonwealth entity.
It is expected to generate power to cover up to 30 per cent of the resort’s daytime use, or about 15 per cent of its annual overall energy use and should reduce the need for the use of trucked-in fuel.
