Much ado about $42m acquisition

Two firms have advised on McMillan Shakespeare’s acquisition of United Financial Services in a multimillion deal.

Value: $42 million

Key Players: HWL Ebsworth M&A partner Jeremy McCarthy (pictured) led the team and was joined by partner Andrew Galvin, senior associate Paul Lewis and special counsel Laura Young. The M&K Lawyers team included partner David Heidtman and senior associate Andrew Glubb.

Deal Significance:

McMillan Shakespeare is a major Australian provider of salary packaging. United Financial Services is a national financial services company specialising in automotive and personal loans.

Following McMillan Shakespeare’s acquisition of United Financial Services the total loan generation by McMillan Shakespeare will now be close to $1.5 billion annually.

McMillan Shakespeare also acquired Presidian Holdings in a $115 million deal in February 2015.
