Kain C+C closes cereal deal
Adelaide firm Kain C+C Lawyers has negotiated the sale of a cereal manufacturer to Australia’s largest co-operative.

Deal significance:
Blue Lake Milling is a South Australian manufacturer of cereal-based foods and food ingredients. The company specialises in oat milling and the manufacture and distribution of a range of cereal flakes, bran, flours and premixes.
Blue Lake Milling expanded operations into Dimboola, Victoria in 2006 following a partnership being established between the Cook and Collins families in 1981. With the business continuing to grow, shareholders felt the time was right to initiate the sale.
The CBH Group was established in Western Australia in 1933 and is Australia’s largest co-operative, with assets of $2 billion.
“This sale marks a major milestone in the growth and prosperity of Blue Lake Milling and allows this iconic Australian company to take advantage of the opportunities this presents,” Mr Kain said.
“The deal also allows the Cook family to stay involved in the business they helped build over many decades.”
