Firms: Baker & McKenzie (Bang & Olufsen), Brett Oaten & Co (Emerald Group)

Deal: Bang & Olufsen sold its premises across Australia and New Zealand to Emerald Group Investments.

Value: Not disclosed

Area: M&A

Key players: The Baker & McKenzie team was led by Sydney partner Ben McLaughlin (pictured) and senior associate Candice Heggelund with strong support from Josephine Hopkins, Aimee Yi and Harry Marples.

Deal significance:

Bang & Olufsen is a Danish electronics company specialising in the design and manufacture of luxury audio products, television sets and telephones. Emerald Group is a luxury goods retailer and distributor in Australia and New Zealand.

The deal will see Emerald take over B&O’s operations in the region, as well as acting as B&O’s long-term master distributor.

Bakers partner Mr McLaughlin welcomed the deal as a “good outcome” for his client.
