Deal: Vehicle importer and retail group Inchcape plc will pay £78 million to acquire 100 per cent of Australia’s largest prestige and luxury car retailer, Trivett Automotive Group

Area: Automotive/Retail

Value: £78 million (includes cash consideration for the business and value of freehold properties)

Key players: Partners Matthew Hibbins and Peter George led for Minters. Julie Briscoe led for Robinson Legal

Deal significance: The acquisition adds further scale to Inchcape's Australian business, which has been operating in this country since 1992 and sells about 50,000 vehicles per annum through its distribution and retail network.

Trivett Automotive Group  is the largest luxury and premium automotive group in Australia, representing a number of world-leading brands, including BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Honda, and highly-aspirational, super-luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and McLaren.

Trivett owns 10 freehold properties in Sydney with a current market value of £31 million. The transaction will complete on 1 March.
