Mallesons only Aus firm to claim HK deal
Mallesons is the only Australian law firm to gain a place on the Hong Kong initial public offering by Lumena Resources Corp.
MALLESONS Stephen Jaques was the only Australian law firm to gain a place on the Hong Kong initial public offering by Chinese chemical maker Lumena Resources Corp and its listing on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The HK$1.15 (AU$0.18) billion offering saw the Sichuan-based Lumena and its owners sell 577.2 million shares, or 30 per cent of the firm's enlarged share capital.
Mallesons, led by Hong Kong M&A partner Dieter Yih, acted as Hong Kong legal advisers to joint sponsors Credit Suisse (Hong Kong) and Somerley Limited, as well as the joint global coordinators, including Macquarie Capital Securities Limited, and the underwriters. This is the second largest IPO in Hong Kong this year.
Lumena was counselled by Li & Partners on Hong Kong law, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in the United States law elements, Shanghai firm Grandall Legal Group on China law, and Appleby on Cayman Islands law.
The joint sponsors and underwriters, as well as being represented by Mallesons, had Shearman & Sterling in the US and Jun He Law Office in China.
