Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed a senior insurance partner in Brisbane and a capital markets special counsel in Sydney.

Insurance lawyer Brett Solomon (pictured left) has joined NRF’s Brisbane office as a senior partner, having formerly headed up DibbsBarker’s national insurance group.

Mr Solomon has more than 20 years' experience acting for underwriters, brokers, claims handlers and other stakeholders in the insurance industry.

His experience is in advising on professional indemnity, D&O, public and products liability, casualty, workers' compensation and occupational health and safety.

Wayne Spanner, NRF managing partner in Australia, said Mr Solomon's appointment would further bolster a growing national insurance team and add another high-quality partner to the Brisbane office.

Down in Sydney, debt capital markets lawyer James Morris (pictured below) has been appointed as a special counsel, defecting from his role as counsel at Ashurst.

Mr Morris has acted for Australian and international corporations and financial institutions as arrangers and issuers in unsecured and securitised debt transactions.

Mr Spanner said: “This appointment is timely given the global move towards increasing use of alternative forms of financing instead of, or with, traditional bank debt.”
