Henry Davis York has taken another hit with senior associate David Gilham leaving to take up a partner role at McCullough Robertson's Sydney office.

Mr Gilham (pictured) is the fifth lawyer to depart HDY for McCullough Robertson since May last year, with HDY partner Justin Madden and HDY senior associates Emma Smythies, Fiona Mudie and Simone Nokes also jumping ship.

Last year HDY also lost managing partner Sharon Cook, financial services group head Liz Gray and laid off 13 staff in Sydney.

Mr Gilham specialises in advising financiers and borrowers in relation to syndicated and bilateral finance transactions. He previously worked at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Taylor Wessing and has worked in-house for several big banks in London and Sydney.

“David’s appointment will strengthen the group’s presence on the Eastern seaboard and reinforce the firm’s strategy for expansion into New South Wales,” said banking and finance partner Peter Kennedy.

“At a time when other firms are withdrawing and consolidating their banking practice, we are ready to make a strong impact on the market.”

Former corporate counsel for the Tinkler Group, Aimee Travis, also recently joined the firm’s Newcastle office as a partner.
