IAN ANGUS has been appointed as the new CEO of the College of Law in Victoria.

Bringing with him 15 years experience as senior counsel and company secretary for Esso Australia Pty Ltd, he said he is looking forward to the recognition of the College of Law as a “pre-eminent provider” of professional legal training in Victoria and “to working with our key stakeholders to ensure that objective is realised”, Angus said.

As part of his role with Esso, Angus was responsible for managing a wide range of legal and corporate secretarial issues for the company. He also spent 19 years with Union Carbide Australia and New Zealand Ltd, and has extensive experience in commercial transactions including international arbitration in Australia, the US, UK and Asia-Pacific.

A former Victorian president and national director of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, Angus is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries. A College spokesperson said Angus’ leadership skills and experience in corporate law practice will enable him to ensure a high value relationship for the College of Law’s stakeholders and partners.
