DPP appointed to Supreme Court in WA
Director of Public Prosecutions, Amanda Forrester SC, has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Her appointment has come into effect as of 1 June 2022. Robert Owen, senior consultant state prosecutor, will serve as acting DPP.
She held the position of Senior State Prosecutor at the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia (ODPP) for a decade prior to her relocation to Victoria to be a Crown Prosecutor in the Office of Public Prosecutions for four years.
After her return to WA in 2011, Ms Forrester held senior roles at the ODPP, and then became the first woman to serve as the Director of Public Prosecutions in 2017 while still appearing in courtrooms for the State as prosecutor in high-profile criminal matters.
President of the Law Society, Rebecca Lee, praised Ms Forrester’s appointment to the Supreme Court.
“Throughout her distinguished career, she has demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, integrity, dedication and competence. Ms Forrester’s extensive experience in complex criminal matters makes her ideally suited to her eminent new position as a judge of the Supreme Court,” Ms Lee said.
The Law Society valued and supported Ms Forrester since her admittance in 1996 and has congratulated her on her new position.
