KWM promotes three to partner
King & Wood Mallesons has appointed three new partners across its Sydney and Perth offices in a recent round of internal promotions.
Mark Bayliss (pictured) has been made partner in the firm’s projects & real estate group based in Sydney. He specialises in Australia and Asia regional real estate capital market transactions.
Last month (31 October) KWM’s Melbourne office also added a tax partner, Michael Perez, who was poached from Allens.
In Perth, Juliana Jorissen is now a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. Many of her clients are from the construction and energy & resources sector.
Jorissen is the third partner promotion in Perth this year following the recent appointments of banking & finance partner Nathan Collins and projects & real estate partner Katherine Vines.
“These new partners are highly driven and will bring a wealth of new ideas and energy to the partnership,” said Sue Kench, KWM’s Australian managing partner.
The appointments of Bayliss and Jorissen are effective from 1 December 2013, while Tse will join the partnership on 1 January 2014.
KWM has promoted seven partners in 2013. While Perez is one of many lateral hires the firm has made this year, it has also lost a number of well regarded partners, including Alex Regan, who left KWM to join Corrs Chambers Westgarth in September.
