Environment & planning expert Brian McMurdo (pictured) joins Corrs from Lavan Legal.
He has advised on a broad range of complex regulatory matters and also provided advice and support in the areas of native title, aboriginal heritage and land acquisition arrangements to a number of clients in WA requiring ongoing support in these areas.
A former practitioner in the WA State Solicitors Office, he has also been involved in delivering major infrastructure projects for both the public and private sector.
McMurdo has advised the WA Government over land acquisition issues for Stage 2 of its Ord River Irrigation Scheme; was a key strategic advisor on land acquisition issues concerning construction of the Perth to Mandurah Railway, and successfully conducted a high-profile Federal Court challenge against the Federal Minister’s decision to environmentally assess a major project.
Corrs’ CEO John Denton said McMurdo’s appointment would ensure clients in WA had increased access to high-level environment & planning support.
“Brian brings a wealth of experience in environment & planning, land acquisition and native title law, which are very important ongoing issues for clients in WA. We are delighted to welcome him to our Perth office,” said Denton.
