HWL plucks partner from Norton Rose
David Guthrie has left the recently-merged Norton Rose Fulbright to join national firm HWL Ebsworth as a partner.
Guthrie (pictured) has joined the insurance team in HWL’s Melbourne office.
His experience includes defending claims under public and products liability policies, professional indemnity policies and general liability policies.
He also has many years’ experience acting for self-insurers in damages proceedings and defending recovery actions brought by statutory insurers.
Guthrie also operates an administrative law practice, acting in defence of merits review applications in the Victorian and Commonwealth administrative appeals tribunals.
Commenting on the appointment, HWL’s managing partner Juan Martinez said: “David has a tremendous background of assisting insurers, government entities and corporate clients with their insurance and administrative law needs.
“He already has strong relationships with many of our national clients and his experience will be particularly helpful in the continued growth of our insurance practice across Australia.
“We are proud of our market leading insurance practice, and David’s arrival builds upon the outstanding expertise that already exists within the team,” he added.
The merger between Norton Rose and American global Fulbright & Jaworski became official in June this year.
