Patent firm adds partners
Freehills Patent Attorneys has made two additions to its partnership.
Carl Harrap has been added to the partnership in the Sydney office, with Thor North (pictured) joining the partnership in the Melbourne office.
Harrap said: “I am delighted to be joining a firm that is so full of energy and drive to provide the best advice and service, as well as offering a supportive and fulfilling working environment for staff.”
Harrap has expertise in mobile and fixed-line communications, consumer devices, electronics, electronic commerce, electromechanical devices, ophthalmic devices and software.
North’s practice focuses on advising clients in the fields of physics, signal processing, computing, consumer products and communications. His clients include technology-driven Australian companies seeking to protect their innovations locally and around the world, as well as offshore companies seeking protection in Australia and New Zealand.
Freehills Patent Attorneys’ managing partner James Cherry said: “Carl and Thor will be a great addition to the partnership. Our physics and engineering practices have experienced substantial success and resultant growth over the last few years, and the addition of two new partners reflects the depth and breadth of skills that Freehills Patent Attorneys has in these practice areas.
“Like our other partners, Carl and Thor have been promoted in recognition of their ability to assist clients [in] optimis[ing] the value of their intellectual property. In addition, they both exemplify our model of working closely with our associated law firm Herbert Smith Freehills to achieve the best outcomes in commercial transactions and dispute resolution.”
