Maree Skinner (pictured), a former special counsel in the firm’s employee & industrial relations group, and Mark Lindfield, a former special counsel in the firm’s insurance practice, have been promoted to partner.

They are both based in Dibbs’ Sydney office.

Skinner has more than 17 years’ experience in employment law. Her work has ranged from the employment aspects of commercial transactions and restructures to advising boards on shareholder remuneration disclosures, termination payments and diversity policies. She has also been active in the industrial relations space, handling enterprise agreement negotiations, industrial disputes and Fair Work Ombudsman investigations.

Lindfield has more than 15 years’ experience acting for the insurance industry and corporate insureds. His practice is a combination of front-end insurance and reinsurance advisory work, together with a litigation practice.

The firm also promoted Rachel Blake (insurance) to special counsel in Brisbane, and made four promotions to senior associate: John Chamberlain (property & projects) and Shelley Mulherin (commercial) in Canberra; Anna-Athanasia Dervenis (property & projects) in Sydney and Peter de Silva (insurance) in Brisbane.

The firm also made six promotions to associate across its Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra offices.

Commenting on the promotions, managing partner Alan McArthur said: “The promotions of Maree, Mark and others is a wonderful testament to the ability and expertise in the firm. They are a source of great pride to the partnership and reflect our capacity and willingness to invest in our existing talent base.

“The promotions recognise the valuable contribution each of these individuals makes to the firm’s industry sector program, clients and teams.”

Dibbs laid off 26 staff, including six lawyers, between December 2012 and March this year, but McArthur recently told Lawyers Weekly that the firm has no plans to make any further redundancies this year.
