McInnes Wilson Lawyers has appointed a new principal to its construction and infrastructure group.

Michael Batch (pictured) will jointly head up the group alongside existing principal Andrew Mewing.

Batch joins the team from construction, mining and services contractor Thiess Services, where he held the position of assistant general counsel (operations). He specialises in all areas of construction and infrastructure law and provides advice for major claims, projects, contracts, negotiations, formal disputes and alternative dispute resolution.

As well as his most recent in-house role, Michael has also worked in top Australian and international law firms on international construction and infrastructure projects, including for the UK’s premier construction law firm where he advised on disputes arising from the construction of Wembley Stadium.

The firm’s CEO, Paul Tully, said: “Michael’s appointment is a strategic hire for our growing firm and will bring strength and knowledge to our client’s construction and infrastructure needs.”
