Brigden has specialist expertise in financial services and is well recognised for his work in relation to life and general insurance, reinsurance and superannuation.

He is also on the International Monetary Fund’s external expert panel for banking and insurance regulation, most recently consulting to the Central Bank of Bangladesh on amendments to its Banking Companies Act.

"I'm looking forward to joining such a strong financial services group and working with people I know well and who I like and respect very much,” said Brigden.

Chief executive partner Andrew Willder said: "Terry's appointment further strengthens our Sydney financial services practice, established last year when Ruth Stringer joined our firm.  Terry is well known within the superannuation industry and, together with Ruth, will play a lead role in the ongoing development of our Sydney financial services practice.”

Four of Australia's most experienced superannuation lawyers - Natalie Cambrell, Ruth Stringer, Peggy O'Neal and Terry Brigden - are now working together at Landers, added Willder.

“This is a concentration of talent unmatched in the market,” he said.

The head of financial services, Natalie Cambrell, said: "Terry has strong working relationships with the major players in the financial services industry and has been involved in many successful transactions requiring extensive interaction with regulators, particularly ASIC and APRA.

Terry has been involved in many diverse financial services matters during his career, including  the development and distribution of new financial products, assisting financial services companies to establish themselves locally or to move their operations offshore, product rationalisations, transfers and mergers, financial and commercial disputes and many other significant financial services transactions with local and foreign financial institutions. We are very much looking forward to his joining our team."

Brigden has spent the past 13 years as a partner in Herbert Smith Freehills’ financial services group.
