SA names new chief justice
Chris Kourakis has been appointed the new Chief Justice of the South Australian Supreme Court, replacing John Doyle who retired last week.

Chris Kourakis has been appointed the new Chief Justice of the South Australian Supreme Court, replacing John Doyle who retired last week.
The Government also announced that Judge Kevin Nicholson of the District Court has been appointed to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy created by Justice Doyle’s retirement. Judge Nicholson was appointed to the District Court in 2006. Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Bolton will also become a District Court judge.
As well, Geraldine Davison SC, an experienced prosecutor and defence counsel, Paul Muscat SC, a distinguished criminal lawyer, and Paul Slattery QC, a respected civil litigation lawyer, have been appointed as judges of the District Court.
David McLeod, who represented David Hicks, has been appointed a magistrate.
Phillip Broderick, an experienced lawyer and Executive Director of the Native Title Claim Resolution Unit in the Attorney General’s Department, and Nicolas Alexandrides, a senior legal officer in the Crown Solicitor’s Office and former senior prosecutor, have also been appointed as magistrates.
