Corrs Chambers Westgarth has expanded its energy & resources (E&R) practice with the appointment of former Clayton Utz lawyer James Minchinton to partner in Brisbane.
Having practised in E&R law for the past decade, Minchinton has acted for a number of Australian and international clients in the fields of project development, exploration activities, regulatory approvals, landowner issues, overlapping tenures, Land Court hearings, native title, cultural heritage, commodity sales and M&A transactions.
Minchinton has also undertaken a number of in-house legal secondments for major mining and petroleum companies throughout his career, and was previously a statistician and process engineer at the Boyne Island Aluminium Smelter.

Minchinton is a member of the Queensland State Committee of the Australian Energy & Resources Law Association (AMPLA) and the Queensland Law Society Committee on Mining & Resources Law.
