Ashurst nabs Santos legal manager
Ashurst has hired former Santos lead construction lawyer Jeremy Chenoweth as a partner in its Brisbane office.
Chenoweth is a Blake Dawson (now Ashurst) alumni, having worked with the firm from 2001 to 2009. On 29 October he will re-join the firm from Santos where he was Legal Manager and lead construction lawyer on the $US18.5 billion Santos GLNG Project.
"Jeremy's practice will be built on the three pillars of construction, commercial and regulatory disputes, with a focus on high-end strategic issues including international arbitration.
"There is no doubt his experience with such a world-leading project as the Santos GLNG Project has positioned him as one of the leading legal minds in the resources sector," said Carrington.
Chenoweth said that over the past decade Ashurst had established itself as a leader in the delivery of legal services to the energy and resources sector in Australia.
“Working for Santos on its landmark Santos GLNG Project in a leadership role has been a career highlight for me. It is a ground-breaking project for Queensland and for the gas industry in Australia,” said Chenoweth.
"I have had the opportunity of working closely with some truly outstanding people at Santos, as well as with our project partners, PETRONAS, Total and KOGAS, each of whom brings a unique set of skills and experience to this challenging project. I will be keenly watching the progress of the project and look forward to seeing it reach a highly successful completion in coming years.”
