Sweet 16 Shine
Shine Lawyers has announced eight appointments in Queensland, six in New South Wales, and one in both Victoria and Western Australia.
Peter Gibson, who started with the firm as an administration assistant in 2004, was promoted to partner in Brisbane. Gibson attained a Bachelor of Laws from QUT and was admitted in 2007. He developed leadership skills in his roles as branch manager and regional legal partner in Brisbane.
Steve Walker, previously principal lawyer of Walker Legal in NSW, joined Shine in 2012 and has also been promoted to partner. Walker came to Shine with more than 10 years’ experience running his own plaintiff litigation firm.
Shine also appointed several associates in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Fiona Leddy, who was the Brisbane CBD branch manager after she joined the firm in 2008, was promoted to associate in Brisbane. She is a member of the Queensland Law Society (QLS) and the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA).
Also in Brisbane, Will Barsby has been promoted to associate. Barsby joined Shine in 2011 and has worked as branch manager of the North Lakes office.
Hervey Bay branch manager Rebecca Johnson has been promoted to associate. She joined Shine in 2008 and has more than 10 years’ experience in plaintiff litigation. Senior solicitor and Helensvale branch manager Peter Matus, who has been with the firm since 2009, was also recently promoted to associate. He has 20 years’ experience and was admitted as both a solicitor and barrister in the early 1990s. He is also a member of the QLS and the ALA.
Matt Forbes and Chris Gillott have been appointed as associates of Shine Lawyers, while solicitor Kate Brodnick – formerly of AK Compensation Lawyers – was also formally welcomed as an associate.
In Victoria, Richard Maloney has been promoted to associate and, in Western Australia, Perth branch manager Jennifer Craig has been promoted to associate.
