The Aboriginal Legal Services board has given the nod to its new chief executive officer, as it says the body is going through an internal overhaul.
Outgoing CEO Gerry Moore was in the position for four years and will hand over to Naden in July 2012.
ALS Chair Iris White said the selection process for the position was very competitive.
“We had superior applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds and from across NSW and ACT, making the selection very challenging,” said White.
“[Naden] won the position due to his excellent and demonstrated leadership skills, his superior knowledge of the Criminal Justice and Care and Protection systems, his solid work background with Barnado’s, the Queensland Police Force and the Aboriginal Legal Service, and his personal inner strength and integrity in the face of diversity and difficult situations.
White said renewal from the “ground up” is happening from within the Aboriginal Legal Services. She said the body openly welcomes the vision and energy the next generation of Aboriginal people will bring to the community organisation.
