MADDOCKS has hired a New South Wales government legal finance adviser to its government team.

Scott Mannix has joined Maddocks as special counsel in the state government group.

He has been recruited from the NSW Government’s central financing authority, the New South Wales Treasury Corporation (TCorp) where he was general manager legal and strategy.

At TCorp Mannix was responsible for advising and managing the legal risks for the State's borrowing programs, investment management products and asset financing transactions.

Maddocks Government sector leader Mark Henry said Mannix is an important addition to the Maddocks government team.

Henry said the new recruit's in-house experience brings a depth of understanding of the unique requirements of government agencies and how legal risks are effectively understood, managed and controlled.

“With [Mannix] on the Government team we have someone how knows the legal ins and outs of how Government operates."

Henry said Mannix has an understanding of the special and unique requirements that Government makes of partners in the private sector.

Mannix was involved in a wide range of financial and commercial matters for the NSW Government including the Australian Government Guarantee of State and Territory Borrowings Scheme and negotiating the State's debt capital markets borrowing programmes and associated derivatives transaction documents.
