Leading UK lawyer swaps magic circle for Perth
A Perth firm has hired from a leading UK law firm in a bid to boost its energy and resources practice.
CORRS Chambers Westgarth has hired from a leading UK firm in a bid to boost its energy and resources practice.
Richard Guit, a former Addleshaw Goddard lawyer and a “Hot 100” lawyer according to UK legal magazine The Lawyer, has joined Corrs’ Perth office. Guit, an infrastructure partner, has more than 10 years’ international experience in the projects, infrastructure and energy sector. The partner, who has been labelled by Chambers as “applauded by clients for his pragmatic approach and his ability to build a truly excellent rapport” will build on Corrs’ capability in Perth and the Asian region, the firm said. He will help strengthens the firm’s credentials in project finance and the renewable energy and waste markets, Corrs said in a statement. Richard advises project sponsors, equity investors and funders on project financed transactions, advises on PFI secondary market transactions, and leads teams on the refinancing of existing project debt. Guit has experience acting for trade sponsors, lenders and infrastructure investors across a range of transaction types and infrastructure asset classes. He participates in the structuring of deals, from risk allocation to the financing structures, and advises across all forms of project and development documentation, including concession agreements, equity and subordinated debt documentation, bonds, guarantees, and other documentation. Guit lead the team advising the commercial lenders, European Investment Bank, HM Treasury, on the Ê700 million Greater Manchester Waste Project, the largest waste project in Europe. The deal was awarded European Project Finance Deal of the Year by Project Finance Magazine. Corrs’ new partner also advised Skanska Infrastructure Investments on their current UK infrastructure projects, including the Ê300 million Hounslow Highways Project, the Ê200 million Essex Waste project, as sponsors' counsel, the Ê300 million North London Waste project, and the Ê280 million Bradford + Calderdale Waste project (as lenders' counsel).
