LAW firm TressCox has appointed a long-time litigator and former Clayton Utz lawyer to its partnership ranks in Brisbane.
The firm has hired Alex Moriarty, who moved from Brisbane competitor firm Tucker & Cowen, and who has spent time at Fisher and Jeffries in Adelaide and Clayton Utz in Sydney. Moriarty has experience in commercial litigation and insolvency, and has worked at the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department in Canberra and the National Native Title Tribunal in Brisbane. The new partner will work closely with the firm’s Brisbane commercial, construction and energy and resources team, led by Leo Hopsick. The firm said the new appointment will enhance its litigation capabilities both locally and nationally. TressCox’s national litigation practice is led by Alistair Little in Sydney. Managing partner, Peter Smith, said the new recruit brings a dynamism and energy to the role. Tresscox had another recruitment coup in May when it appointed three new construction lawyers to its Melbourne office from Rigby Cooke Lawyers. Partner Andrew Whitelaw, consultant Bryan Thomas and solicitor Lucy Fitzpatrick joined a team of just two at the time.
