Former Freehills partner, Stephen Walmsley, will join Johnson Winter & Slattery together with a team of six lawyers. The team, including Rebecca Farrell (special counsel), senior associates Sarré Cousens and Hillel Nagel, associates Erin O'Conner and Richa Puri, and graduate Bianca Guerrieri, currently sit with Clarendon Lawyers in Melbourne, a firm founded when Stephen Walmsley left Freehills in 2007.

The group of lawyers specialise in providing advisory services to ASX listed companies concerning governance, board performance, capital management, executive remuneration and ASX Listing Rules and Corporations Act compliance.

Johnson Winter & Slattery managing partner Peter Slattery said: "Given the continuing focus on board performance, continuous disclosure and executive remuneration, we are delighted to have [Walmsley] and his team join the firm."

Walmsley will join the firm as a partner on 1 June 2009.

The appointment news follows JWS's recent appointment of Blake Dawson senior associate Sar Kardare into its Sydney competition practice, and Freehills senior associate Jee-Seon Lee, who joined the firm's regulatory group in Perth.
