New director to lead Velocity’s estate practice
Velocity Legal has appointed a Victoria-based solicitor as its new director to lead the firm’s estate practice.
Jennifer Maher joined Velocity in October 2022, where she’s currently set to serve part-time in her new role.
During this time, she advised in the Re Owies case, which Velocity stated as a prime example of the complexity of Ms Maher’s practice.
Further, Velocity cited Ms Maher as holding strong experience in regularly advising clients on estate disputes and litigation, wills, estate planning and protection, as well as estate administration and probate, where she was awarded Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Wills, Estates and Succession Planning Lawyer in Victoria from 2018 until 2022.
In addition, she’s been a recommended wills and estates litigation lawyer in Australia from 2020 to 2022 and an accredited specialist in wills and estates law with the Law Institute of Victoria.
Commenting on her appointment on a Linkedin Post, Ms Maher said: “The benefit of in-house tax (as well commercial and family) lawyers is such a value add to estate planning, estate administration and dispute clients…the world (clients…or their children) are now so multi-jurisdictional, tax will be such a focus moving forward…if not already…a holistic approach is here.”
Ms Maher posted that she was “excited about what is to come!” and described her new role as a little like going home as she would be rejoining colleagues from her old days.
