THREE FEMALE senior associates have been promoted to the rank of partner at Freehills.

Sarrah Coffey and Joanne Crew, from Freehills’ projects practice in Melbourne, and Sydney colleague Fiona Smedley, from the corporate team, were all elevated to the partnership.

Chief executive officer Gavin Bell said the women each have a depth of talent and expertise within their respective practice areas, and have displayed exceptional leadership qualities and a superior client service focus.

“These appointments signify the significant contribution these individuals have made and will continue to make to the firm; their commercial focus has contributed strongly to the success of their practice groups,” he said.

“[Coffey], [Crew] and [Smedley] are talented and dedicated individuals who espouse the firm’s vision and values, and act as strong role models and mentors for our talented junior lawyers across the firm.”

The firm said the promotion of the senior associates reflects the success of its ‘Women at Freehills’ program, which strives to increase female partnership numbers in the near future.

The three appointments became effective from the beginning of the new year.
