ONE OF Australia’s leading banking lawyers John Stumbles will join the University of Technology, Sydney early in 2008, taking up the position of professor of law.
Stumbles, who will continue to work with Mallesons as a part-time consultant in banking and finance, is among several new academic appointments to the university’s Faculty of Law in 2008: Other appointees include: Lesley Hitchens,professor, media and communications law, currently with the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales; Natalie Stoianoff, professor, intellectual property (especially patent law), environmental taxation and foreign investment laws in China, currently with the Faculty of Law at the University of Wollongong; Katherine Biber, associate professor, evidence (particularly visual evidence), litigation, criminology and criminal law, currently with Macquarie University’s Division of Law; Peter Edmundson, associate professor, corporate tax, indirect taxes including stamp duty, torts and commercial law, currently with the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sydney; Rodney Fisher, associate professor, taxation law, currently senior tax manager at Ernst & Young; George Yijun Tian, lecturer, e-commerce, intellectual property and digital copyright, currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of New South Wales.
