A SENIOR partner at Auckland firm Hesketh Henry has been appointed as the honorary consul of Sweden. Mike Toepfer, whose great-grandparents were Swedish, will represent Sweden at official functions, assist Swedish nationals in New Zealand, and promote the country in general.

Toepfer has been with Hesketh Henry for the past 16 years and is a board member, specialising in commercial property. Toepfer said that he hadn’t actively sought out the role but had been forwarded as a suitable candidate. “I’m quite looking forward to it,” he said.

The firm’s managing partner, Erich Bachmann was also appointed as the honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Auckland in April.
