Allen & Overy announced late last week that it has promoted 24 lawyers to partnership across its global network. This is the firm’s largest round of partner promotions since 2008.

While the bulk of the promotions took place in the London office, Allen & Overy also made three key partner appointments in Sydney: Jason Gray (pictured), Connell O’Neill and Ka Sen Wong.

Mr Gray leads the firm’s US white-collar crime practice in the Asia-Pacific region. He has practised in Australia and the US, and is experienced in anti-bribery compliance and due diligence.

Mr O’Neill is a corporate and commercial lawyer who specialises in technology and telecommunications. His practice includes M&A and equity raising, bespoke technology and telecommunications-centric joint ventures and business-led technology transformations.

Mr Wong leads Allen & Overy’s Australian tax practice. His expertise includes private and public M&A, funds, projects, energy and resources, infrastructure, financial services and capital markets. Mr Wong is a member of the tax committee of the Law Council of Australia, the Tax Institute of Australia and the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.

Jason Denisenko, the managing partner of the firm’s Sydney office, welcomed the new partners.

“The promotions represent a 14 per cent increase in our partnership and reflect the strong performance of the Australian offices and the significant contribution the Asia-Pacific region has made to top line global growth in recent years,” he said.

The promotions are effective as of 1 May.
