Firm head takes on new role
The chief executive officer of a national law firm will take on an additional role as co-chair of an integral taskforce.
Corrs Chambers Westgarth CEO John Denton AO (pictured) has been appointed as co-chair of the B20 Financing Growth and Infrastructure Taskforce.
Recently, German business associations BDI, DIHK and BDA assumed the presidency of the B20 and, under their leadership, recently appointed Mr Denton as a co-chair of the Financing Growth and Infrastructure Taskforce.
Mr Denton’s appointment marks him as the only Australian and only individual from the legal industry who is part of the leadership team of the B20 Financing Growth and Infrastructure Taskforce.
In his new role as co-chair, Mr Denton will be responsible for providing recommendations around global business issues.
This includes frameworks for financial systems that are resilient while fostering growth in the real economy, initiatives to encourage global investment and economic growth, and improving tax co-operation and certainty to foster business development.
“The B20 is an incredibly important voice for the international business community. It helps shape the agenda for business issues of global significance, and I am honoured to have been asked to be part of this process,” Mr Denton said.
“With the leadership of B20 Germany, this taskforce has an excellent opportunity to carry forward the legacy we initiated together in Australia to advance the agenda for sound infrastructure investment.
“As a firm, Corrs is committed to helping our clients navigate complex issues and changing environments, and I intend to apply this same approach for the business community in my role as co-chair of this taskforce."
The B20 appointment follows Mr Denton’s appointment last year as the first vice-chair of the International Chamber of Commerce.
