New special counsel for Maddocks
Maddocks has appointed an experienced information technology and intellectual property lawyer as special counsel.
The firm welcomed Brendan Tomlinson to its Sydney office, bringing with him extensive experience working at corporate law firms and in-house at leading technology suppliers, both in Australia and overseas.
Mr Tomlinson has also worked at British Telecommunications, Gilbert + Tobin and IBM, where he managed the law department services team.
He has advised on a number of IT transactions, including large-scale, complex outsourcing and integration projects, cloud-based offerings, data analytics and software licensing and development agreements.
Maddocks partner and technology sector head Brendan Coady said Mr Tomlinson’s appointment complements the firm’s existing practice and further strengthens the team’s offering to clients.
“Technology is one of our key sectors and Brendan Tomlinson will bring to the team an enormous amount of experience across a range of IT and IP legal issues gained by working in Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand,” Mr Coady said.
“Technology is about constant change and being able to react quickly, and where possible stay ahead of the rapid changes happening in the industry.
“Brendan has shown during his career an ability to provide commercial and timely advice, in the context of the changing landscape of the technology sector. Clients will benefit from his in-depth knowledge of technology deals and offerings, including that gained from working for leading-edge technology suppliers.”
