Alain Musikanth has been elected unopposed as president for 2017.

Mr Musikanth is a barrister practising from Francis Burt Chambers in commercial litigation. He specialises in professional liability, insurance and contentious tax matters.

Before taking to the WA bar in early 2007, Mr Musikanth was special counsel in the commercial litigation division of Corrs Chambers Westgarth. He practised as a barrister in Cape Town, South Africa, prior to joining Corrs in 2001.

“I am honoured to have been elected as president of the law society for 2017,” said Mr Musikanth.

“Having served on the law society's council for a number of years, I hope to continue contributing to the work the society does both for the benefit the legal profession and for the benefit of the broader community.”

The Law Society of WA also announced that Hayley Cormann and Greg McIntyre SC have been elected unopposed as vice-presidents for 2017.
