Nicholas Adamo (pictured) has been announced as chief innovation officer of Sparke Helmore and chair the firm’s innovation committee.

Mr Adamo’s new role will also see him step up as CEO of the firm’s new innovation hub, Bright Sparke.

The entrepreneur and strategic adviser has worked with innovation accelerators and held advisory positions on several boards.

Mr Adamo was national lead partner for Deloitte Australia’s forensic technology group from 2008 to 2010. He assumed the role after Deloitte merged with Forensic Data, a company Mr Adamo founded, in 2007.

Mr Adamo has also worked for EY, where he was responsible for establishing an Asia-Pacific ‘Enterprise Intelligence’ team and working with its advisory group on strategic growth and acquisition projects.

“As an entrepreneur, clients have always been at the centre of innovation for me. I look forward to working with Sparke Helmore’s clients, and others, to help them to better understand and solve critical issues that encompass the full professional services spectrum, analytics and technology,” Mr Adamo said.

The Bright Sparke innovation hub has been set up to operate as an independent entity to the law firm.

According to a statement released by Sparkes, the hub will “co-develop more efficient legal solutions and non-legal solutions to clients’ business issues, through enhanced data analytics, process outsourcing, emerging technology and partnering arrangements”.

The firm’s chairman of partners Mark Hickey said Bright Sparke hopes to develop “the very best technology-based legal solutions” for clients.

“We’re excited to have someone of Nicholas’ calibre on board to lead this initiative,” Mr Hickey said.
