DLA Piper recruits UK lawyer to partnership
Nicholas Turner has left his position as partner of London firm Sidley Austin to join the DLA Piper employment team in its Sydney office.
Mr Turner (pictured) has worked with leading global investment banks, hedge funds and brokers on both contentious and non-contentious employment work, as well as regulatory and employment related investigations. He has experience advising multinational corporates in a range of industry sectors, and advising financial services and insurance clients in particular.
Mr Turner is originally from Australia where he was admitted as a lawyer and practised for 10 years. He has also previously worked in Hong Kong.
According to Andrew Ball, head of DLA Piper’s employment team in Australia, the new partner will bring a “wealth of experience” to the firm.
"Nicholas brings to DLA Piper a wealth of experience in employment and employee benefits law. His broad range of work in jurisdictions including the UK, Europe and Asia will add great value to our employment team and our clients,” Mr Ball said.
The appointment of DLA Piper’s new employment partner follows the recent addition of two new finance and projects partners in Sydney, Alex Regan and Simon Huxley. Together with recent internal partner promotions, DLA Piper has added five new partners in the last month.
In May DLA Piper lost IP partner Dr Simone Mitchell to global rival K&L Gates.
Norton Rose Fulbright has also attracted senior partner Samantha Kelly and insurance lawyer Jacques Jacobs from DLA Piper in recent months.
