Philip Heuzenroeder, an IP lawyer who has worked for IPH over the past 12 years, will take on the role.

With more than 20 years’ legal experience, he has worked for Spruson & Ferguson Lawyers since 2005.

IPH was the first IP services group to list on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). It is the holding company of Spruson & Ferguson, Practice Insight, Fisher Adams Kelly Callinans and Pizzeys.

Mr Heuzenroeder led the Spruson & Ferguson team in a competitive tender by the Attorney-General’s department to develop the first edition of an IP manual for all federal government departments and agencies.

Prior to his role at Spruson & Ferguson, he served as general counsel and general manager commercial for technology commercialisation group Unisearch Limited (now NewSouth Innovations Pty Ltd).

Mr Heuzenroeder replaces Malcolm Mitchell as company secretary. Mr Mitchell will remain group CFO for IPH.

The IP services group comprises a team of approximately 370 people and offers a wide range of IP services and products throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

According to its online announcement, the IPH team “services a diverse client base of Fortune Global 500 companies and other multinationals, public sector research organisations, foreign associates and local clients”.
