Intellectual property partner joins K&L Gates
Dr Simone Mitchell (pictured) has left DLA Piper to join K&L Gates as an intellectual property partner in its Sydney office.

Dr Mitchell has represented clients in multi-jurisdictional intellectual property disputes and has experience advising on intellectual property management strategies. Her work also covers advising on the regulatory framework for therapeutic goods in Australia, including clinical trials, pricing and reimbursement, promotional disputes and product recalls.
Dr Mitchell has acted in a large number of patent infringement and revocation cases involving various inventions, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, packaging, chemistry, mining, and plants.
In a statement released by K&L Gates, managing partner Nick Nichola described Dr Mitchell as “an impressive partner and first-class legal practitioner”.
“Her skill set provides a unique and deep understanding of the sectors in which she works and offers significant benefit to clients. We are very pleased to welcome Simone to the partnership,” he said.
Last month K&L Gates recruited competition partner Ayman Guirguis from Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
In February, partner Chris Willie also left Holding Redlich to join the firm’s real estate team.
