Nexus appoints consulting principal - 2016
Deepesh Daya has left his role as a special counsel at an international firm to take up the role of consulting principal at Nexus Law Group in Melbourne.
Mr Daya (pictured) was previously a special counsel at K&L Gates, specialising in banking and finance.
His practice focused on complex domestic and cross-border corporate and finance law and his clients included large multinational public and private companies, including domestic and international banks and private equity firms.
Mr Daya said he wanted the freedom and flexibility to develop his own practice without the confines and restraints of a large firm.
“I spent almost all of my career in large law firms and while the idea of starting my own practice was exciting, it was also daunting,” Mr Daya said.
“I was drawn to Nexus Law Group because they give me the support and resources I need to build something for myself.”
He now acts for a range of organisations including SMEs, larger corporates, banks and also consults to other law firms. Mr Daya specialises in domestic and cross-border debt and equity finance and the purchase and sale of businesses and assets.
The founder of Nexus Law Group, Marcus McCarthy, said Mr Daya is the second appointment to the newly launched Melbourne office of Nexus and a significant addition to the team.
“We are always striving to build a diverse and specialty-focused team of consulting principals, and Deepesh expands our overall skill set further,” Mr MacCarthy said.
“He has a great approach of building long-term relationships with his clients, and is exactly the kind of lawyer we want in our skill base.”
