Sparkes restocks insurance team
Six lawyers have joined Sparke Helmore’s insurance team in Canberra following its loss of six employees to Hall & Wilcox.
Sparke Helmore recently lost insurance partner Matthew Needham along with three legal and two support staff, who all joined Hall & Wilcox’s new Canberra office.
Partner Catherine Power (pictured) and special counsel Jessica Bristol are both rejoining Sparke Helmore from DLA Piper.
Ms Power has more than 15 years’ experience in insurance litigation and was most recently location head and litigation and regulatory partner at DLA Piper’s Canberra office.
She has experience advising large insurers and the Commonwealth Government on commercial insurance litigation in areas including public liability, professional indemnity and medical negligence.
Ms Bristol works in the area of commercial insurance and CTP. She began her career at Sparke Helmore and spent the last nine years at DLA Piper.
Consultant Colin Blain is joining Sparke Helmore from his position as partner at Abbott Tout. Mr Blain is highly regarded for his work in CTP, commercial and general insurance.
Another special counsel is due to join in March.
